June 19 – Rep. Maloney Says Bush Out of Touch for Threaning a Veto of Her Bill.
Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), author of “The Federal Employees Paid Parental Leave Act” (H.R. 5781), legislation that would give federal employees four weeks of paid leave for the birth or adoption of a child, said that President Bush is out of touch with working America for threatening to veto the bill. Senators John Warner and Jim Webb have introduced a companion bill in the Senate.
